WELCOME TO DOLLHOUSES GALORE
This web space will be serving only one purpose---to share my creations with everyone who is interested in the fascinating hobbies related to doll housing and miniatures making. I love the world of scale sized houses and I greatly enjoy the books about them, both fiction and non-fiction, written for children or adults, included in my extensive collection gathered over a number of years.
I won't be trying to sell anything, unless it is the idea that many attractive and realistic miniature items can be created with very little effort or expense. Imagination is the largest commodity I've used. Most of my dollhouses were built from scratch using my ideas and plans I drew. Interiors have been completed almost exclusively using instructions and ideas found in my books, along with some I've dreamed up myself. Only a small quantity of ready-to-assemble and finish kits are in them.
I acknowledge that I have nearly every woodworking and hobbyist tool there is as well as a plentiful supply of raw materials to help me construct my dollhouses. I also have an ancestral connection to an architect and a building contractor-carpenter-brick mason, so perhaps there is something in my DNA that makes me love this particular hobby so much.
I definitely prefer complete dollhouses, regardless of the shape or size. I like the idea of being able to peek inside a window and see what a person might see inside a real house, or open a front door as if I've been invited inside. For these reasons along with many others I never make room boxes or miniature displays in old clock cases or such.
I will be dividing the photos of my ever-growing collection of houses into individual albums starting with the first dollhouse I built in the mid 1980s. I plan to add as much description and commentary to each album and photo that I can think of, but if you have any additional questions or constructive criticism, I'll be happy to hear from you via my email address: [email protected]. (Don't forget the dot between dollhouses and galore.) And please mention Weebly in your subject line text.
I will try to respond quickly and any new thoughts or ideas you might like to share will be taken into consideration when I begin working on my next project. But please remember, I'm not selling anything, and I have no desire to buy anything either. So enjoy my houses without the annoyance of advertising.
